50 mile bike ride. Riverdale Resort to Millville

We have some amazing Scouts and Varsity Scouts. Friday (Oct 15.) we camped at Riverdale Resort. The scouts lasted about 15 minutes swimming after getting afraid of the moss in the pools (common in natural hot springs).

On Saturday they road bikes (peddle not motor) from Riverdale Resort (past Preston) to Millville, UT in about 5hrs. Every scout present finished the trip (most even climbed the 400 feet elevation hill from Riverdale to the top). Thank you to the adults and leaders who supported and helped out: John, Teresa, Paul, Mitch, Mark, Phil, Mike, and Craig. We had an awesome breakfast in Lewiston (thanks to Craig, Mark and Mitch). For the most part we stuck together. By the end the scouts were learning how to draft and work as a peloton. Thanks to Mark for taking most of the photos (except what I took while biking). I was impressed by the determination of every scout to make it home on their human power.

White Pine Lake Backpacking Sept 2010

We had a fantastic time backpacking into White Pine Lake. This was the first time backpacking for many of the scouts. Its a 7.8 mile round trip and I was impressed by how well the scouts did. You will see we had beautiful scenery and weather. Mitch forgot his spoon, but whittled a new one. I have to thank my friends at Wise Company Foods for providing us with backpacking/ outdoor meals (gratis). The guys thought they tasted good. Their website is...

I'm glad we had such a great turn out and a good time. Thanks to all those who came and helped prepare the scouts.
